About this company
Kuretake began in 1902 in Nara, making sumi ink. It grew out of the ink workshop that Narakichi Wataya set up, and the head office is still in Nara.
Sumi ink and calligraphy supplies remain the core of the business, and it was from there that the company created the brush pen. Liquid ink, materials for illustrated letters and calligraphy markers all grew out of the same root.
