About this company
Pilot is a writing-instrument maker founded in Tokyo in 1918. It began under the name Namiki Manufacturing, making fountain pens sturdy enough for people who went to sea.
It is the only Japanese maker that works its own gold nibs in-house. It has also invented mechanisms outright: the Capless, whose nib retracts at the press of a knock, and Frixion, whose ink disappears with friction.
