Vintage and second-hand fountain pens only, every one overhauled before it is sold. The shop occupies a room in the Okuno Building in Ginza — once the Ginza Apartments, an inter-war block where the poet Yaso Saijo, the writer Kan Kikuchi and the actress Kinuyo Tanaka all lived — and has been there for more than twenty years. Apart from a few pieces ordered from makers, everything is bought on the second-hand market, taken apart, checked and its nib adjusted before it changes hands. The whole point, as the shop puts it, is that a vintage pen should be one you can use without worry. Pencil leads and postcards are there too, and much of the stock is never listed online, so it is worth asking. It opens only on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and the latter two irregularly — check the calendar before going. A shop for someone who means to write with an old pen rather than display it.
PencilDB lists 298 models from the 5 makers carried here.
