A little over thirty years ago Tiziana Tamma left her office job and, with her husband Antonio, then a sales rep, took over a small stationer's in Foro Bonaparte. Persuading its two elderly owners — tired, but not quite ready to give it up — took a long campaign, and the couple still laugh about the day they turned up with an ostentatious box of chocolates that finally won the old ladies over. The fittings were early twentieth century, as were the long aprons the owners wore. The shop now stands on Corso Buenos Aires, open Tuesday to Saturday from a quarter past nine to a quarter past seven. It carries on as what it was — a place where a pen is settled on in conversation.
